Ozaki passed away at age 26, on April 25th 1992. He died from pulmonary edema, or having excessive amounts of fluids in his lungs. He is highly regarded as one of Japan's best rock lyricists and musicians, being that he is one of the few who so accurately expressed the frustrations of the entire nation's young people in his songs. He is looked upon as what is essentialy a rock and roll martyr: he was a rock and roll rebel who reached success, but paid the price for it.
