Okamoto Mayo
Information:
After graduating from high school in Kouchi Prefecture, Okamoto moved to Tokyo in order to pursue a career in music. She would make her debut with the song "TOMORROW' in May of 1995 (it was the theme song to the TBS drama "Second Chance"). She didn't make any TV or live appearances at first, but ended up making her first live appearance at NHK's annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen at the end of that same year.
Okamoto has also written songs for well known female artists such as Nakayama Miho, Nakamori Akina, Hirosue Ryouko (who is from the same town as Okamoto), Shimazaki Wakako, and others. Okamoto has also written the music for an ending theme song to the popular anime "Chibi Maruko Chan", and also for Morinaga's "koeda" chocolate commercial. She has also expanded her work to writing essays and photography as well.
