Post Last Friends (JP)
What do you guys think about Last Friends currently airing in Japan. It's not a typical japanese show as it deals with things like transgender issues, gay, girlfriend beatings, rape and so on.

Most of the actors are well known and have previously starred in drama and comedy shows. A good example of an actor trying out a new kind of character is Nishikido Ryo as he portays a guy thats abusing his girlfriend and does selfinflecting damage to his own body. It's scary how good this role actually fits him. He actually make me belive he might be capable of doing this in real life. He's really good but I can't help think he'll lose a lot of fans starring in this show, in this role. What do you think?

Synopsis Last Friends
Last Friends tackles issues that afflict the current generation. Michiru's mother has brought a man back to their home and she is bullied at her workplace where she works as a beauty parlour assistant. She starts cohabiting with her boyfriend, a good young man who works at the Child Welfare Division and the only person who can give her emotional support, but ends up the victim of domestic violence and becomes fearful of love. The boyishly charming Ruka was a classmate of Michiru's in junior high school. She has performed brilliantly as a motocross racer and aims to win the national championship, but as the story progresses, a deep worry that she can neither confide in her parents or close friends grows evident. Takeru is a hair and makeup artist acquainted with Ruka. He is a good confidant to females due to his kindness and perceptiveness, and finds himself attracted to Ruka but has a phobia of sex as a result of a past trauma. The three of them become house mates and through their associations with others, gain the capacity to be positive about life.

If you haven't seen Last Friends yet. I recommend that you check it out. Watch the first 3 episodes at least before you make up your mind.

Nishikido? No way, I doubt he'll really lose any of his fans, if you ask me. He's so enormously popular because he's a Johnny's guy that I don't even think that an "evil" role will lessen his fan base any significant amount! It sounds like a very interesting drama though!

the last episode aired last night and it is hands down the most popular drama this season... So much so, every frekaign friday the girls in my class waste 15 min. talking with the teacher about what happened the night before on the show. It's pretty good and luckily Kioku fansubs has been on the balls with doing a quality sub of this series.

the main chick in the series is incredibly cute... and her friend, is NODAME!!! so weird to see her doign a role completely oppisite form her last gig....

Awww Juri Ueno is by far the best female teenager actress out there, along with Erika Toda if you ask me.
I liked Last Friends a loooot, but I am really surprised they won to the "Gokusen" franchise and more to Kimura Takuya in ratings. I guess the drama scene is now being observed more by teenagers than the general Kimutaku fanbase.
Apart, if you add that many popular actors are in there (Nishikido, Eita, Juri Ueno, Nagasawa Masami) then you can definitely know who are going to watch your drama. Besides, Johnny's guys are *almost* always a guarantee.

I'm really proud of my Ryo-chan, he has evolved so much as an actor and as a singer... see, he is one of my favourites because he entered JE the same time I entered the fandom, that's why he has a special place in my heart. I am sure that he will be able to play any kind of roles from now on.

kimutaku was not at all popular this year since he did that punch perm crap...

and because of his toolness, lot sof guys are walking around with perms now, but then quickly reverting back to thier normal hairdo.

as for the kimutaku drama, it was utter crap... that and kimutaku too knew that... so it required it to be shorter and it aired 2 weeks into the drama season.

and gokusen, while good is the saaaaaaaaaaaame exact story.

last seasons gakkou jya oshierarenai was pretty damn good...

i´m seeing alot more dramas this year pertaining to all the taboo topics that japanese don´t typically talk about. Which is good...
